Well I am finally getting to this mod that I wanted to do last year.
I have LED bulbs in place now but wanted something different. Found a company that will change your Supra lights to LED rings which looks killer, just out of my price range, around $700, use your lights!!
I used my old set to try all that is needed, & made up some LED panel inserts.
So today I started this mod, first remove the tail lights, separate the outer lens, remove the inner lens, get a fitment, & plan it out.
Looks like a tennis ball cut in half will center the LED plate, glue together ,glue in place. The wires I'll run through the stock bulb socket, which has rubber wire seals & a rubber sealing ring.

Today I got the LED plates in place ,wired up using the stock bulb sockets, inner & outer lens back in place & sealed up, tested all.
One tail light is done,on to the other tomorrow.

So one of the last things before reinstalling these lights was to revise the vent tubes as the pockets are aways cut revised & upside down, so the vents would be facing up.

    Thanks
The LED bulbs were bright, but this mod gives the bright LED dots in rings that I think stand out better.

    Random question here...
Any idea how much less juice the led's pull? Im getting slight voltage drops with my brake lights and blinkers. And the front is all led. And ive got a 100a alt.

A lot less than a filament type bulb.
Sounds like you have a short in one of the wires!

I dunno bout a short.. All the lights work and are bright. More likely some corrosion in a plug or ground connection. I think the tail lights are grounded under the bed? The voltage drop is .1v when I turn on the head/running lights. Then another .1v when i hit the brakes. Another .1v when the dimmer is turned up over halfish. Another .1v with the flashers. This voltage is being read at the amplifier behind the drivers seat. Which i find odd since the lights all go through the fuse box and the amp gets power straight from the battery and alternator. Ive got a 1 in 2 out fused distribution block off the battery 1 out goes to the amp and the other out goes straight to the alt.
