Hey man, have you tried mocking this up on the opposite side? Might look cool with a lot of exposed tread from the front view but then have an actual mud flap / guard area behind the wheel. I like where you're going with it.

I've made progress on the flares. I've actually spliced the passenger and driverside flares together to completely cover the wheel opening. I'm very happy with the results. I'm just getting all the hardware I need to make it a clean bolt on setup. All the body lines come together perfectly.

I'll post up the results in a few.

Thought about getting a mold made of your custom flares?

For sale...or just in case someone side swipes you or something?

I've thought about it. It would be a distant future project though.

Sorry guy's. I've been posting the results on facebook. Here is the initial rough fitting. I'm using fender welting between the flare and the bed panel.

Currently relocating the gas filler inside the bed to mount the passenger side flare. I want to keep the flare clean.

    Inspiring!!....Or not?

Love your truck and what you've transformed it into.

Right on par with my personal taste.

I'm always downloading pictures off of your build almost like a wishlist, haha.

Yet my truck is still sitting...

    Someday :)

Thanks for the support guys. Just trying to get this truck where I want it so I can focus on helping friends get their rides on the road. Almost finished with modded hood version 2.

I have an oil cooler that fits perfectly INSIDE the front bumper. I want to drill a few 1" holes in the bumper for airflow to the cooler and used dimple dies to give the holes a finished look. Will get to that install soon.

Love it. I've been following your build since I found your hood mod on 22RTEtrucks forum. It has definitely transformed quite a lot.

Now that my truck is down and waiting for me to afford a new engine, I get to live vicariously through all these threads!

@yotarip This truck is awesome! I have an '87 Xtra Cab Long Bed that I've been working on for a few years. I made a rear suspension from scratch based off of a 4th Gen Camaro torque arm setup, and I have a lot of other small mods done to the truck itself. Now I'm finally going to be upgrading to a 1UZ. I bought a '95 SC400 for $450 and picked it clean. I plan to integrate the Lexus gauge cluster, cruise control, auto headlights, and whatever else I can get to work. I pulled the Hyd. fan and its ECU, power steering lines, and even about 2/3 of the exhaust, because it looks like it will tuck up nicely under the Hilux. I have been kicking around the idea of making some fender flares for the last couple weeks as well, and seeing them on your truck validates my thoughts that it will look awesome. Thanks for the massive amounts of info in this thread.

Oh yeah, I'm in Virginia Beach, so maybe I'll have to cruise up to Richmond some time and meet up. I'd love to see your truck in person.
