I am an older Toyota mini trucker, most of you probably could be my grandsons I am trying to make a decision about what to do with my truck when the time comes for me to checkout of this world; I do not plan on doing this too soon but no one lives forever and you can't take it with you. I have had alot of fun with my truck since the day I bought it new and now 26 years later. I have had and do have other cars, street rods, customs, etc. but my truck has been the most fun of them all. I do not want to sell it for money, my children have no interest in cars, etc. I would like for someone and / or other people to enjoy it. Whoever gets it, I would like for them to take care of it like I did so other generations can enjoy it. It is a rare model and it is imaculate. My wife suggested that I pose the question to all of you diehard Toyota truckers and she is pretty smart about these things. So I pose this question: What would you do if it were your truck? Thank you for you input.
maybe a essay contest? or maybe find a museum to donate it to. i hate the thought of ever letting my toy's go. i think i will be "laid to" in one. another possiblity would be a auction. a hi end type like barrets, you truly to have a rare model, finding the right collector may be hard indeed. heres hopin ya live forever.
Reading your post made me drool Especially since its a mojave edition! But I gotta agree...need pictures to fully begin to understand!
Yeah, I understand. My truck is my first car and I never want to leave it behind, it's like it's my brother... always there for me when I need him and gives me the occasional, tough love (I'm the 3rd owner; at least). A museum would be something good for it. I mean, the only Toyota I have seen in a museum was the old Toyopet Crown (I think) in the World's Worst Cars that they had in LA. Only reason that didn't fit in was because it was tuned specifically for Japan's rough post-war roads. Your truck is very beautiful, I'm sure the majority of the guys on here would buy it in a heartbeat, but as you said that's not something you want to do. I personally would try to keep it in the family, like wait until grandchildren could drive it. Good luck in your decision.
I have photos of my truck in the Reader's Ride section of Mini Truck Magazine, Truckin Magazine and Sport Truck Magazine.
It's a 4x4 model I take it,contact some local 4x4 clubs,& set it up to be donated for a youth group when the right time is.Your wife will get the tax credit & the younder kids can benefit from it! From another old guy!
I think if there is no one who would look after it donate it to a Dealership or museum as a show piece!
thats a tough question my friend.. even though you do not want to sell it, maybe you ought to make every penny off of it while you can and take care of your children with it because chances are they have no idea what it is and what its worth and if your still holding onto it when your gone, it will end up in a garage sale or something... no grand children interested in cars ?
Dealership might not be the best idea... they may want to sell it, and they would make some serious cash off of it if they did.
