I got a 3 inch drop with the Moog 2278's, and saved my originals.

Slow progress... but its still progress

Removed most of the surface rust and touched up some of the paint. Also began experimenting with my harbor freight special DA buffer.

The harbor freight buffers aren't as bad as you'd expect.. really just matters what compounds you use

It's been awhile. Although I'm always on here, I haven't logged in for some time now. I clear coated the hilux a couple years back to keep the patina. I did it to buy me some time so I can eventually paint it. Had some big plans this year for it but since the pandemic is going on, major things will likely happen next year. Hope everyone is staying safe, keep on truckin!

Wow! 5 and half years later... not much has happened. Since my last progress update, added a clear coat buy me time for a repaint. Clearcoat is now starting to peel. Swapped over my wheels from my other truck. Also upgraded my carb to a weber.
Currently, I have the dash and sheet metal removed. Since I'm having electrical issues, decided to upgrade the almost 50year old harness. This is where it currently sits.

Progress has been slow, only because of the limited spare time. So far, I have the front end wired up. I can drive her around at least. Started cleaning up the interior. Gutted everything out. Will clean it all up before doing the interior wiring.
Today, I managed to find the elusive (at least for me it is) radio delete plate. I have been searching for this since I got the truck. Has a hairline crack in it. Will be repairing before installing.

OEM. I've seen those before. Someone was even reproducing them for awhile. I was even considering one but since this one came up, I knew I had to have it since I have only seen 1 pic throughout the internet. These are very hard to come by

I'm currently doing somewhat of a complete rewire. Universal wiring harness' aren't exactly plug and play for Toyotas. When it comes to the alternator, I am reusing the original harness that connects the alternator to the voltage regulator. You should see 4 wires that connect the two together (alt and VR) If you fried the harness, it should be pretty easy to rebuild and new wire harness. Their is really two other wires to pay attention to. white/red wire goes to ignition and white/yellow goes to the headlight indicator on your guage cluster. Hope this helps. Let me know if you get stuck. Oh, I also bought a bunch of new crimp spade terminals to be used on the original connectors. I can mail you out some for free if you need those too

Big shout out to Jetas for the large wire diagram I am using. The Chilton handbook I have is pretty small. I was able print out Jetas diagram on a 11X17 piece of paper. Huge help! Thanks!

Small update here. I've been cleaning up the dash before reinstalling. Leaving the dash original and am cleaning up the plastic trim. Still need to find a dash pad (high hopes) or make something.

Here's a tip for anyone looking to touchup anything chrome. I found a chrome paint marker at the local hobby shop. It is the closest to being chrome I have ever found. The brand is Molotow Liquid Chrome. They come in different tip sizes. The tip I bought is the biggest, which is 4mm. The pictures doesn't do any justice. It's really close to being chrome looking.
