Not a Toyota, but the 96 S-10 that will soon be my youngest sons. The head lights were not to good so I installed some after market units that came with a not so good bulb, which I changed out also!
I put a set of 55 watt hi/low hid's in my 84 From dddmtuning.com. They are nice and bright of course but the housings are complete ****. I need to find some hella housings at the minimum but I'd love to find some cibie'or even ipf housings to keep the light under control.
That's easy. Grab a set of H4 housings and put some 80/100 bulbs in there. I ran that for years in several trucks. If you want to step up to HID's keep the KV temp low. My 55 watt are 6000 KV which in a 35 watt bulb would be rather blue but with upgraded wattage the color is whiter. If you go with 35 watt keep it under 5400 KV and you'll have just a slight blue tint.
The lens are from Xtralights.com,4x6 Projector Glass Headlights, there are not glass!!Came with 90/100 watt bulbs, but the light was bad from them. They do have a lot of lens types, so check them out! They should have something that fits a 94. Hella also makes very good lens ,have them on my 88 with a HID system from DDM in them! If I had known these lens were a composite,I would have used the Hella lens! The bulbs I used are Sylvania Silverstar's 60/55 watt units they are pure white light,4000K. Only look different in this photo!
The Silverstars are great. I ran them for two or three years, but they don't last long, maybe a year average. Factory HID's are usually 4800K in temp, I chose a 5000K set from DDMTuning and love them. They are white. Not blue or blueish. They do appear bluer than the Silverstars, but that's the difference between Halogen and white HID's. 6000K's start to appear bluer, but they start to noticeably change at 8000K. Going with the 55watt sets over the 35watt sets will wash out the color a bit, so you can go to a 6000K and still be white. While the extra wattage sounds good (55 over 35), I find that my 35's are waaaaaaaay brighter than any halogen I ever owned and I don't blind other drivers. ...Of course the Hella housings may have something to do with that too.
