RCCrawler i saw some hilux's on there

 

aoshima makes the hilux model. this is the s-10 i was building, but i never officially entered.

made a cowl hood

removed the doors to make them suicide.

sheetmetal floor w/trailer tubs

19" v.i.p. rims

 

started custom sfbd frame

hand made functioning control arms PITA

started on the link setup

went with a wishbone

leveraged rear bags w/custom tubular upper mounts!


i did a lot more but don't have the pics anymore. i added 57 belvedere taillights, custom firewall and sheet plastic flooring, custom front bumper w/69 mustang grille, unibodied and some other crap to waste time on.

 

if it is the right scale, i'd put my Supra motor in the hilux haha

It took 3 different models to make this, any guesses?????

 

its made out of styrene, same as the models are molded in. you can get it at hobby shops and online

 

chevelle?

 

that's one of them.. but just the hood...
They don't make a model of a 71 chevelle either...lol

Its a 69 el camino, with a 70 chevelle hood and a 70 Malibu clip.
the front clip is off the Malibu, i took the tail lights and hood from the 70 chevelle to make the hood and front fender turn signals. the rims are from the chevelle as well, was an ss kit. the engine is a 396 big block.
WHY???
Cause i had one that looked just like this
man i miss that car. The frame rusted in half at the middle cross member. had corvette rallys, and a built 396 with turbo 400....would lift the front tires off the ground....probably how i broke the frame...lol
Sold it for parts.....i hate myself for it now

they do make a hilux that is a snap together model that is body dropped tilt bed and adjustable suspension
