wasup? i got a problem with clearance out front between my tires and inside of my fenders... i used the phonebook method to roll them out for the clearance i needed on the sidewalls now when i turn hard it cuts the very top, outside lip of the tire. it has 205/65R14's all the way around. wanna keep the 14" wheels i have i just need smaller tires! i'm wanting the tires to be at least 1 1/2" to 2" shorter than what's on it now. size info and where can i get them please???!!!???
how close is your tire to your fender? That's weird, I have 255/40/18's on a 18x10 and I'm not rubbing. Yes, I do have 4wd fenders, but it's pretty damn close to the fender.
I have 205/70r14 and have never even come close to rubbing. I'm also stock height tho. 205/55r14 is almost exactly 2" shorter but it'll take your speedo out of whack by 8%. You'll be going slower than it says which also means you'll be screaming along at 3350rpm instead of 3k rpm at 70. It'll also look like a little mexican truck (not to stereotype but every time I've seen a truck with wide wheels and too small tires it's driven by a mexican with ye-olde-english lettering and air-brush pictures all over it.)
Hey man if this helps I am running a 155/55 series tire on some 14x7's. You can find them om ebay at 510tires. Here is how they look. They are Federal Formoza FD1's
Back on point, I think you need to get into your inner fender wells with a fat ass hammer. There are bolts and pinch welds and flat spots all over. I had a 92 with about a 4" front drop. Had 195/75/14s and only rubbed on hard corners. Went to a 195/70/14 and cleared all day. Had 2wd fenders. One trick I like to do is bomb can the inner fender flat black then drive it hard. If you heard rubbing go hammer the shiny places the paint is gone. Keep doing it til its always black. Then you have nice looking inner fenders too.
I'd say 205/55/14 would be a good balance. 60 wouldn't hurt, for a 14" wheel. I have 25.6" tall tires (275/35/18) all around and the front rubs on the pinch point (that I need to hammer down even more). If it wasn't for that, I don't rub at all.
People don't understand this suspension is so soft. Once you get that low, you'll ask for more suspension travel, but nothing is going to stop that tire from meeting the fender wells if you hit a bump because that bumpstop disappeared. I hope they know that on 25-26" tires, with a low profile bump stop, that tire should be 2-3" through the fender well before that bumpstop meets the frame.
Hey estgang1991, any luck finding new tires? any new developements? It's not my fault they fit the stereotype. I've seen white guys with donks, I've seen black guys in riceboxes. I've never seen anything but a mexican/hispanic in a truck with that combination of wheels and tires (and usually graphics). I'm not saying all mexicans have those trucks...it's a minority. however, the inverse is held up by observation so far.
I think it's great how I provide information on tires and I'm running 275/35/18's all around with some pretty aggressive offsets. But then no one understands at this drop with soft suspension, you need to stiffen it up to control suspension travel and not rub a **** ton. I hate it when my girlfriend says I drive a beaner truck.
205/75/14's are stock tires. I drove mine with stock tires before, should be fine. Beat those pinch welds in. I had to loosen some of my bolts for the accessories on the fenders so it doesn't damage tires.
Swayawayz will stop the softness after I lowered my truck I said yea I'm gonna need swayawayz that and added belstein hd shocks .firm ride now with good compression and rebound for dips and rolls above fifty . Even loosend them a tad to get some roll for turning in .
that's not beaner truck tires....195/55 stretched on 14x10s with the inside sidewall an inch inside the fender on a 1/2 ton is beaner truck tires. you have a ricer truck
And if you put them together, you have a beans and rice truck! Reading this forum always makes me hungry.
