I sold the setup after selling the ae86. It is a simple swap mechanically. All the needed parts for the swap can be pulled from the 4ac. Need to be a little creative with the water lines. If I were to do it again, I'd keep the 4afe efi setup.

More details on the brake setup.

I'm using a 1994 Mazda MPV front rotor. I had the truck hub machined down so it would fit inside the back of the Mazda rotor. I asked for a snug fit so that the flange would support and center the rotor, NOT the studs.

One could have a loose fit on the flange and get the shop to machine a hub bore centering ring for the rotor just like for custom wheels.

The mounting face of the rotor is bretty thick. Will definatley need extended wheel studs for this swap.

Excellent work . Got me thinking now I've seen plenty of 300zx in the yards I've been to this I's. a fairly cheap upgrade considering the other options

I also need a 11mm spacer in order to center the caliper over the rotor. Luckily I had one for my previous Cressida/ 300zx caliper setup.

The 300zx pads should not be used because they are intended for a slightly larger diameter rotor than the Mazda. The 300z pads overhang on the outside of the rotor. Luckily, 4runner pads fit and have the needed friction material placement.

300zx pad on left and 4runner pad on the right. The metal backing plates are identical but the 4runner friction material is a few millimeters lower than the 300zx. They fit the mazda rotor. I do think the wear indicator will need to be trimmed off.

Yeah. I hoped to find a straight bolt on solution but some machine work on the hub is needed.

rotor thick ness and over all thick ness i may have really neat up grade in my head right now

    350 track caliper's or 94 nissan calipers and 2000 ls400 rotors

Well looks like the 2000 ls400 rotors will work and there 315 mm using eather the 350 z track caliper pricey or just use the 300zx ones that you have now

There is a caliper bracket for s13/s14 to use 300zx calipers with 350z rotors. Should be able to use that bracket on our trucks.

The 1uz in the truck is early obd2. I have since grabbed a obd1 (1991 ls400) harness and ecu. Will only use it if the obd2 gives me a problem.

Did you grab the key and the ecu when you got the motor? You will NOT be able to run the motor if you dont have the correct key or ecu.

I luckly bought an OBD1 for that reason. Didnt want to mess with swapping of the ignition.

^ that's only true for the VVTi version 1998 and up.

Dont count them out just yet. There is a guy that sells a black box that bypasses the security. The price should come down and 300 hp VVti 1uz swaps will be much easier.

    So,
The driverside lower control arm was bent by the PO. It was pretty beat up so I picked up a replacement from the JY years ago but never installed it because.................it's a pita. Since the Prothane Bushings came in today I decided to swap in the good LCA and new bushings. I don't have a torch to burn out the oem bushings but a hot air gun and alittle time did the job.

Pics of the upper control arm bushing work.

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

I had to cobble up this tool to press in the lower control arm bushing.

    [IMG][/IMG]

I also received the full balljoint set I bought for $40. the bushing set was $25. Rebuilding this truck is surprisingly cheap. Way cheaper than the cressida or my corollas.

Going to get bushing for the leafsprings next and new prothane body mounts.

So much to do on this truck. I feel like I'm not getting anything done for real.
I planned on keeping the manual steering box but it made finding a working alternator belt setup for the 1UZ kind of tricky. Plus the 245-50 series front tires will make steering heavy at low speeds. I picked up this power box last weekend.

Just patched up a rust hole left by the decades of leaking batteries.
