today i finally finished running the passenger side headers. now i need to pull the motor to finish them off.
thanks nam. there is already some vids of it running without headers, and it sounds about the same with these open headers. once i get the exhaust on i'll post another. thanks i'm hoping it will be at least be driving into the show, but probably not street legal in december. right now i just need to finish headers and exhaust, get a driveshaft, hook up the electric fan and put a belt on the motor. then to be street legal it just needs all the lights wired.
Inspirational build burnzya! Your welds are particularly nice work, and all of it very clean. What are your plans, source, for the driveshaft? Can't wait to hear it run with an exhaust to fully appreciate the note. Get ready for your 'best of show'!
thanks. driveshaft will be made using a 4x4 4runner front flange and slip yoke. i modified my 3rd member pinion flange to match the 4runner shaft. then a new tube going to a 1310 series flange to match my billet adapter. thanks man
i've been putting in some work. there is a show this sunday that i'm planning to take the truck to so i have to hurry up lol rear axle coming out for paint. motor out so i could get the headers off. also going to wire for my new oil and temp gauges while it's out headers ready to be welded and have the o2 sensor bungs added
Read this build from page 1, took me 3 days of off and on here and there. I'm in freaking awe! I would never have the patience to build something like this, the quality and engineering that went into this is impeccable!! I showed my wife some pics as I was reading, she said, " that one is a lot better than yours! Can we have one like that one!?" thanks Bernz, looks like I get to build a ground up now!!!
Holy nipples!!!!!!! I am amazed to see something like this!!!!! Like 1lowsr5 i too just read from page one!!! Took me from yesterday afternoon till now but i have a lot of free time at my job(by a lot i mean i just sit on my arse and watch some guy) but dang man!!!! You sir have aquired a rarity in this world that we like to call a sugar momma!!!!! Well at least from what i was reading about your wife funding it and you being a stay at home dad!!!! I can't wait to start on mine just got a ton of other responsibilities i need to cover before getting started on my build!!!! Can't wait to see this thing done though!!!!
thanks thanks thanks, and yeah i'm lucky to have a wife like mine. but there are times i'd rather work then deal with 3 little kids lol.
i got my headers finished up and the truck back together on sunday morning. radiator tubes have been flared and i took it to a show sunday night and came home with this
i also finally drove it after 3 years of building it! first drive of my 73 hilux (1of 3) - YouTube rolling low (1 of 3) - YouTube
started welding my grille up and decided to change it's shape a bit lol and got my exhaust pipes fabbed and installed
