i need help with the the hood on my truck. its bagged and body dropped 5 inches. and my motor stick out of my hood. and i cant seem to find a cowl hood. or a raised hood. any help or suggestions would be great
i thought about getting a stock hood. cutting it in the center and folding the sides up and weld in some sheet metal an make my own cowl hood.. but i dont know how successful i would be lol.
I think it would be easier to just by one of these "glue" on cowls, you can obviously attach it different than with just glue, then fiberglass it smooth. Auto Parts
Toyota Found this site that sells bolt on cowl hoods. How wide is the hole you need filled in the hood?
i need to go measure it. ive been looking at some.. when i dropped my truck i just cut a square in my hood. without really thinking about it as my hood was messed up anyways. and i saw that site also. i found a hood scoop i think will work.. but asfar as my current hood and the big hole its going to be some work getting it to work. may be better off just buying a hood.
a 5" bodydrop is pretty much laying door right? i don't think any pre made cowl hood will bolt on being that low. you'd probably still need to lower the motor, section the pan, and modify the steering to get it to fit a bolt on. you could always get a custom intake built and a shaved valve cover (on top of everything above) to clear a stock hood.
no. i was only bodied to the rockers. never had to deal with clearance issues with my motor and i owned a 22r not 22re so idk which ones taller. good luck. also visit seths site. twistedminis.com hes super cool and straight forward.
I agree overall this is the best solution, my truck is bagged and bodied too and lays flat frame and rocker and my motor was lowered, oil pan sectioned and steering modified, I still retain my stock hood with no hole and have had no problems.
im pretty much laying doors maybe 1/4 an inch from the ground and i found some cowl hood scoops that i can mold to my hood that just might work.. and my motor sticks up and good 3 inches slammed.. so lowering the motor will only help a little.. as i stated above the the other guy my motor sticks out of the hood a good 3 inches.. so his 1 inch lowering mounts wont really do me much justice..
sorry for being off topic, but did you just buy this truck, or where you trying to sell it... i just seen it on craigslist and was thinking bout checking it out jsut to cruise on till i finish mine....
yeah i live in greensboro and my brother has a bagged and bodied s10 with a 350.. he lives in jacksonville and is the marines but has his own shop/garage where he build trucks either for himself or friends..when i get this truck ready for the road i need some cruisin buddys.
I went with a custom hood. I bought a steel cowl for an S10 off of rollpans.com(?) for like 80 bucks and had it split down the middle to widen it so it matched up with the lines. Had it welded up (I suck at sheet metal). My total cost was around 180 bucks for the steel cowl and labor. Check my build thread for photos. Hope that helps
