I want to hook up a vacuum gauge to monitor my engine. Where is a good place to tap into for vacuum presure?

In the intake manifold plenum , if carbed, below the throttle plates and carb base, if EFI, in the plenum behind the throttle body.

efi...thank you very much. Also how can I tie the gauge light to come on with the headlights? Will autometer gauges dim with the factory dimmer?

You could tie in to any dash light wire that dims with the dimmer switch, heater panel light, OEM radio? I think it dims with the switch? gauge cluster, ect. any of those will come on when the headlights are turned on and should dim when the dimmer is turned.
The Autometer gauges should dim the same as stock if using a standard bulb, if they are LED bulbed or digital then those will just be on or off as the LED's won't dim normally.
