I just got my front valves in today for my bags. I have the GC Xtreme 250psi 1/2' valves. When i hit to air them up the dump valve lets out some air before it seals off. The bag holds pressure after that but it sounds like im letting air out when im going up. I have the flow arrows both pointing away from the pressure side. One of my buddies at the shop thought that maybe the dump valve should be turned around so the flow arrow goes toward the bag to hold the pressure. When I did that the valve seemed to flutter and sound weird??? I'll post up vids if it helps... Any help would be awesome, thanks in advance.

Only thing I can think of is maybe bad check bearing, or bad diaphram. Ive never used the GC's but they are the same as SMC and so forth.

I was wondering also, I do electrical for a living in police cars. When we run a dual battery setup we will trigger the secondary battery with a 200 A solenoid and when the solenoid closes it will cause a voltage spike that will mess with sensitive electrical equipment, and so we run a diode in between the positive and negative triggers to keep it from spiking. My friend thinks this might be whats happening. Any ideas? Only 1 reply huh? lol

No, that is somewhat normal... The valve needs about 15psi to seat properly, so if you air down to nothing, it will leave the dump valve unseated slightly and you will get a "psst" upon airing up.

The valves are also one way, they will not hold pressure backwards.

If you are concerned about this, just don't air out 100%. My truck lays out before I release all of the pressure, which helps out with air management. It's more efficient than dumping everything and starting over every time....

So now I've hit problem # 2. After i air up, if i take away what would be the tank line from the front of the up valve, the air bleeds back out of the up valve emptying the bag... But if I flip that valve I would assume tank pressure would bleed into the bag. This is getting irritating now lol. Little help please.

On the second problem I believe they have to have pressure for them to stay closed. Lemme see if I have this right. You fill up bags. Take away the tank to valve line an it drops? If thts it then it's normal almost all valves do it. My gc 350s an airlift 300s

If that is true then wouldn't the valve that lets air out be leaking? I'm pretty confused and I am even a plumber.

No... The way i get it is that the valve will only hold pressure one way and there needs to be pressure on the opposing side for it to seat properly. Kinda retarded but thats the way it works... Found this out because I onlt have 1 ball valve for testing, so I aired up my fronts and dis-connected the lines to do the rear after I put it together, and the front lift valves backfed the air after i took the line pressure away...

Ya I found tht out to when I had my truck lifted an drained the tank. It drains the valves aswell. But a check valve would solve tht problem
