Repaint & related work Spent all day yesterday & today reworking (building up with weld) the door gaps front & rear & matching to front fender lines! Got the drivers door off so can finish up the welding needed, get the body work hammered out,& primered. Than the drivers door. And both back on for next weeks show (the first of this season)! And than it's start the blocking of the whole truck, get any low spots filled & block again & again until ready for new paint. Same color ,darker & add peal to lower portion. Hope to be completed for Danger Zone.
figured out my fuel pump problem and moved on to remove the rear bumper to find it is welded to the frame... will start a build thread after i get it running right
Got that valance on, o2 sensor on (i can do 105mph easily now, weird....), and welded up that magnaflow again. SO FAR EVERYTHING HAS HELD UP. cept for that crankshaft pulley.
Ordered a 49" l.e.d light bar for my tail lights decided not to go old school ford or caddy lights like everyone else besides I think they are cool and thats what matters right. Lined up my rollpan gonna have to do a bit of work to make it line perfect but eventually it will be molded and welded anyway. Went to scrap yard and got some piping and sheets to rebuild my notch/bridge. Gotta wait for taxes to buy my 4 link.
Went junkyarding on Sunday... Found an older Toyota mini-van, and there was a cooler/freezer in it in front of the center console. I opened it up, and moved a plate that was in the front of the cooler to reveal... Toyota mini-ice trays! I snagged them up.
sounds awesome! how did the welding for the gaps go? i'm wanting to tighten the gaps on my hilux, but the factory openings are around 3/8" so i'm thinking about splitting the door jambs and adding little filler strips in.
lookin good nam, where'd the meshies go? or are they not for snow driving? i've seen one of those vans in the JY too! but the ice trays were long gone
Thanks Bern! The meshies are stored for the season, they have all seasons, but the tread on them were at least 5-10% when I got the wheels. And that Catback,.. well, the catback consisted of.... That factory flange, I just cut off the factory smaller pipe. welded onto is a 2.25", and I think it transitions into 2.5" because the Magnaflow is much larger. It was for my friend's 09/10 V6 Tacoma. got it for free. I looked and I guess the first initial welds from the flux welder wasn't too good. The other welds I did with the stick were pretty, complete. The cinderblock cracked the welds on the flange. The other welds didn't get affected. And also, before the cinderblock, the exhaust somewhat pointed towards the driveline. Now its slightly adjusted and raised. Now it doesn't scrape the driveway if I go head on, ish.
changed the oil in the runner and had a new muffler put on since the old one had a hole in it and no tail pipe since i lost it lol
I walked by my 78 a few times that's about it. Spent the day finishing the engine swap out of my big truck into my wifes 89 x cab 4x yota and built exhaust for it. Swapped out the trashed 34's for some usable 33's. Tomorrow I'll start tearing down the new engine I'm going to build for the 78.
Today I started on my shaved tailgate handle patch , got about half way done. Also spinned some 225/40/r18 tires for a few seconds lol.
Three of us cruised up to the first show of 2011, a memorial. I got the doors back on & all in guide coat, will be taking back apart this week.
