    What makes the difference?

My truck is currently an automatic, with a long bed. Planning to drop it 3", but heard from a buddy the rear may be 2.5, not 3".

    Please advise, TIA!

What is the concern if it's 2.5 or 3? And if I'm not mistaken it is 2.5 at the outer sides.

I do mean: The rear axle diameter. Is it 2.5" or 3". I know 3" is the standard size.

I'm ready to pull the trigger. Just dont want to deal with restocking if they are not 3".

Please advise guys. I know many of you know. TIA

Can you not go outside with a tape measure and measure it? Seems that would be the quickest and easiest, I tried to look it up but found nothing, probably same as you. :waytogo:

its a crap shoot with the early trucks as to which axle you got with what trim.

    may be a 8in with 4:10's and a 3in tube, or could be a 7.5in with 3:73's and a 2.5in tube. ive even seen a 75 SR5 with a factory 4:56 and a 5speed.

could be a mix of all with a taper at the end...

1st step: look at and decode your build plate

2nd step: make sure someone hasnt swapped a different axle in.

    3rd step: measure your $hit

    4th step: underpants

    5th step: ???

    6th step: profit

The truck is *buried* in our barn(tons of exterior furniture, mowering equip, etc) .It would only be quicker and easier if no one else can for me, lol.

Well I ordered lowering blocks that have 3" U bolts. I was already placing an order and wanted to toss these into the order too (free shipping).

Once I unload the barn in the spring, I will get under there and measure.

    Thanks guys.
