I have a 74 hilux that has a stock non limited slip rear end in it and I am in the process of deciding what axle to use in place of it. Does any one here know the axle width flange to flange?

Perfect! Thanks looks like I'll be doing a ford 8.8 from a explorer and doing a 4 link adjustable setup in the rear

Yep that 8.8 is a good mod. Might do it on my 72

Seems like the most simple axle to do. I did one in my volvo a few years back. Was thinking of doing a volvo 240 axle die to the fact it's only 1 inch wider overall but then I'd have to redrill the hubs. With the 8.8 explorer axle you have to shorten it 2.875 inches on the drivers side and use 2 passenger side axle shafts and it will end up being 1.5 inches wider on each side. But it will retain the proper bolt pattern. Will have to upgrade to 16 inch wheels all around and do a big brake swap up front
