    Ok,1st post :)
I picked this baby up a few months ago in trade for a 78 blazer.

Here she is when i first got it.
    Cruise and AC work perfect.
    Has a fresh 22r and freshly built 5 speed.purrs like a kitten!

and a montage of what Ive done over the last month....

Ive stripped the interior and am doing all of it in black.
deleting the cab corner lights and probably going to shave the bed hooks.

I'm just going to static drop it on the stock rims, and paint the rim black, then polish the chrome trim rings and put in a baby moon center.
The truck will be black with a phantom grill...if anyone knows where i can get one please link...otherwise i will fab one.

    Thanks for looking!

    Thanks for the welcome!

I had one like this a long time ago.but it was not in very good shape.
This baby has NO rust at all.
All the stuff works.cold ass A/C and cruise works now.
There is only one thing mechanical i have to do....I have to look into the front end a little...it has ALOT of play in it at about 55 mph.
Its weird, the faster you go,the more play you get.going about 25 mph there is none at all.
    It has power steering.

    okay . . .

. . . Does the steering wheel have any play in it when its parked and engine is off ? Few spots Ide check first, power steering pump ( probably not it ), strut bars ( bushings worn or bars loose ), balljoints / tie rod ends ( would be able to tell at all speeds, but, the faster you go the looseness should get worse ), slop in steering arm, worn steering damper ? IF you havent already get yourself a good manual ( I use Chiltons Toyota trucks 1970 - 88 ) and refer to section 8 for suspension and steering maintenance. Its a very excellent section to narrowing down problems and helping you to come to a positive solution. Dont just let someone tell you to " . . . get an alignment " most of the time, other worn out parts are the cause. Good luck !

You're out of luck on the phantom grill. No one makes anything for these trucks.

I don't get why people want to build these all of the sudden. They're popping up everywhere now.

I didn't chose this year...guy offered it to me as a trade for my wore out ass blazer...and i said sure!!

this thing really needed saving....the interior was trashed by 8 years of chain smoking.
I have always loved toyota pickups.and this one is the same year as one i had in highschool.

What should i have done....told the guy...naaah,there are enough of those running around?
And my wife will not complain about me messing the toyota up.
I'm still making payments on the s10....lol

So no,its not your fault people are getting these to work on....but it didn't help yours looks so cool either....lol

My cousin has a '77 Toyota and I've been trying to talk him out of it for a year now and he's not coming off of it. it's not in very good shape but I want it so bad. Maybe I'll trade him my 4runner, lol.

i wish more people had 70-78 trucks.

i cant seem to find much info or other peoples exploits with em.

all i can find are wicked cool pics of built ones, but nothing to support em.

clean looking 2nd gen, you do know the interior came in black right? i do understand, its hard to find "not mauled" pieces;)

have you greased the zirk fittings or "grease nipple" on all the suspension bits? you have to ask the grease monkey type places to do it on your car and the 2min they spend doing it only includes the lower balljoints as they can see em easy.

you should have @ least 10 in the front suspension alone, its amazing how much a lil grease helps with the "wandering". a lot of times there is just a 8-10mm bolt plugging the joint where the fitting should be.

Well...its been said that life is a circle & what goes out today will come back around tomorrow. For awhile all we saw were new trucks, big rims & wild paint jobs. Now the old school look is coming back out & to be honest I love it!! Any model truck pre 94 are awesome & I think its what alot of people like to see cause they are different. So I give mad props to anyone that builds an
old school truck & Seth I want to say that I believe that you started it with your clean ass build!
