Really hoping we get some more updates on this thing. Absolutely awesome truck. And like others have said, that blue is SO good looking.

I still need to fix some dents and work out my electrical gremlins. I need to do new bushings on everything and try to find a LCA for a decent price, that will probably be my summer project. The next big project is to cut out the floor pans and replace them. I have the pans and even a welder I just haven't had the chance to really mess around with it. Once thats done carpet, new seats and fix up the dash. Lastly I have to rebuild the motor at some point. I'm getting a bit of chain slap but it can probably go for a while.

 

I've actually got the same tachometer "mounted" to my steering column with zip ties lmao

Thanks! The glass fell out of the mirror and rather than buy another set I decided to stick a tach in there. Works pretty well and its lit up at night.

What is the rev max on these engines? I need to get a tach as well I don't know how high they rev to.

 

It doesn't really go over 4k rpm for me but I also have a weird ratio in my rear dif and its a 4-speed.

 

Stock 5500 rpm. You might not feel much power at that range. A little head work and cam can change that. It's been a it's been awhile since I've calculated theoretically rev limit. Most cast pistons can't go much over 6k before you run into major problems with such a long stroke. Also heard the crank pulley likes to fall apart after 5500.

 

Mines goes to 6k (22re) but falls flat after 5k. I thinks we're used to the torque down low. A tach is a good way to keep things under control on 30/40 yr old gear.

 

22R carbureted, I typically shift around 2500 or a little lower and normally won't go over 3k

 

Sounds very responsible.. I wish I could say the same about my habbits...hahahah.

 

By the way, you can easily get a tach for ~$30 with a mount. Red wire, black wire yellow/green signal wires.. super easy on these engines . Signal wires goes to the positive side of the coil and you have a tach!!

 

Im looking to get one that would fit in the place of the speedometer. I don't want to purchase one that goes to 13 when the truck wont pass 7. Ideally I would like to find one where the redline would start at 5 or 6. Can they be special ordered?

 

You can but I'd imagine a custom gauge to be pricey.. have you checked out @jetas truck?! I believe he uses speedhut gauges in place of the OEM.. there also a few more member that have done what your tryna do hopefully they chime in with some knowledge.
