    Hey guys,

I'm in the process of lowering my 74 and there are a bunch of lowering block kits available. Which ones are you using? It doesn't give very much useful info and I don't trust the vehicle compatibility tables. I'm looking for 3 inch blocks, and there seem to be a few kits available but none have dimensions like axle diameter.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Most block kits come with 3" u bolts. I think we need 2.5" to fit into the shock plate. I ended up ordering some heavy duty u bolts with pep boys blocks. If were to do it again id go with Beefed Taco blocks

ebay seller wheelsnparts has a great selection of drop blocks. They have the tapered ones so your drive shaft will still be at a proper angle. Check them out.

Oooh, might have to get me a set of those....

Any links to cheaper Mighty Max coils for lowering the front? What about shocks? Might as well get the whole package!

I used Rockauto for my stuff. They have everything you need! I got KYB gas shocks that were listed for my truck and stock coil replacements for a mightymax

there's no problems using stock size shocks when lowering these trucks 3"? I'd think there's no up-travel left in them and they'd fail sooner than later from topping out all the time? Or do the bump stops save them from this? I see some guys removed their bumps too.

No need for shorter shocks with only blocks because the lower shock mount isnt moving, youre moving the axle up off the leaf pack. Leafs stay in the same place

sorry, i meant for the front. i understand the concept above applies to rear - but for the front does it not make too much difference because of the shock mount being located further inboard on the control arm?

Itl still work but will be closer to being fully compressed. If not fully compressed. Only option ive read about is a 1st gen camaro front shock

S10 front shocks are supposed to work as well, with maybe a little grinding on the LCA where they pass through as they may be a slightly larger diameter.

Dont think anyone has done it on the 2nd gen. The spot they mount on the LCA isnt flat, so you cant put it on the top. And the upper BJ already mounts on the top of the control arm.
