Just read that in 2016 tundra might come out with a 5.0l v8 cummins same as the nissan Titan. Pretty badass if it actually happens. Its supposed to be a move to light duty diesels. Finally they bring diesels over to the states. Took them long enough.
Diesels are everywhere. And those v-thingys will never have the pulling power of an inline. But it would still be cool to see those trucks with a modern diesel in them.
Diesels are everywhere... but not in a Toyota at least not in the states. 300hp and 500 ft lbs of torque should be able to tow just fine in a half ton truck.
Dont hold your breath. This rumor has been around for MANY years. And why would Toyota put a Cummings in the tundra, when they already make diesels for the rest of the word and also own a majority of Hino?
Ya I know the article I read said they were in the planning stages of it before the economy crashed and that trashed the idea for awhile. Nissan is getting the cummins aswell and I think thats why toyota is going with it too.
the only reason this is happening is because nissan stepped it up, if it wasn't for that....diesel tundra's would still be a pipe dream......... but **** that V8 diesel and give it a real inline 6 cummins!!!
I guess all the companies are trying to come out with light duty diesels. Dodge is coming with one too chevy and ford haven't jumped on the ban wagon yet but theyre supposed too
Still the concept of a turbo diesel tundra is badass. So hopefully they do it. I think the market is there
True dat! There is a reason why inlines pull soooo much better. AKA a longer stroke than those v-thingys. More torque! I do agree with the coolness of the concept of a diesel going into the trucks. It will be interesting to see how long they will last, if they put them in.
Inline might have more torque but its not hard to get even more power from a diesel. Hopefully toyota goes through with it
