Well i need some help from my TM buddies....:waytogo:
My dang 4th gear just went out and i cant even get it into it at all unless i jam it in.:brickknock: Now my 3rd gear every once in while wont work either. Why all of a sudden did they go out? So here is my problem........ This is my daily and it sucks going from 3rd to 5th and sometimes 2nd to 5th, i need to get this fixed asap but i dont no how and dont no that much about changing out gears. I was going to look for a shop to do it but how much do you think it will cost to do this? Unless anyone on here knows how to do it, i rather pay you then a shop i know nothin about. I can drop it off on a friday cause i get off at 11am from work and can just take over my wifes truck for the weekend but i need mine back before monday. So all my part money i been saving for is going to this now. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

I would start with the easy/cheap diagnosis first, check the seat bushing and the bushing on the end of the shift lever that fits into the shift rail, if those are good then its something deeper like shift fork like WT mentioned, a broken syncro hub, or bearing.

:meemee: HEEEEEEEEEEYYYY!!!! did you guys overlook this post or somethin?? ^^^^

i just did this same repair on my buddy's truck that thought the same thing. it was the shifter seat bushing. its gonna cost you $20 bucks and 15 minutes to repair...... dont go wasting money you dont have to unless you like throwing money away...... if you like throwing money away, throw it my way at least it'll be set to good use.

otherwise......... look here, and order this part (the white one). once you get it ill have a writeup on how to replace it by the time you have it at your door. it takes 1 phillips screw driver, and a rag to replace.

OK instead of me throwing money away and if i do then throw it your way then there we go, I head up to your place and have you take a look at it and tell me what you might think it is.
I took it into a shop today and they said my shifter feels real solid, More solid then his in his truck he said. Its not flopping around or loose. So they put it up on the lift and he pulled the plug and the fluid just ran out of it like it was water. The fluid was so thin to where he put it on his hand and it ran off just as fast as water would. He told me it smelt like synthetic to. So he drained it all and put the right fluid in and told me to drive it around and see if that will help any and if not then its something more internial. Well it didnt help any. I cant even put it in 4th gear when its parked or off. Man this sucks bad.:brickknock::verdict_in:
So SDYota help me out and lets get this thing fixed.:waytogo:

oh, forgot to mention this little bit of advice before you REALLY damage anything........ DONT FORCE IT INTO GEAR!!!!

you will find that if you lift up on the shifter before shifting it into the gears that you have issues with, it will be easier. :waytogo:
