I just picked up a second truck to make in to a clean mini and first thing I wanna do is the sound system. I took a look at Crutchfield to see what will install without a wiring kit and it seems like only single din units will fit. I really want to do a double din unit with a big screen.

Any of the audio guys run one of those double din units with navi, dvd, ipod, etc?

Any known models that will install without a fuss?

 

double decks are a direct bolt in as long
as you have the oem brackets, all you have to do is remove
pocket.

 

Double din's are easy in these trucks, like Zukin said reuse oem brackets. If you dont have them and you order from Crutchfield, you can get the brackets from them. For DoubleDin HU I like eclipse, AVN 726E, great features, plenty of options and easy to use.

if you want a awesome touch screen/radio for the money get a pioneer avh-p4100. If you want navigation I like the new pioneer avic z110 alot. I have installed multiple motorized double din radios in my truck and they have all fit perfectly.

 

Yes you will need a harness (metra # 71-1761). also if you want to watch video while driving on that model radio take the parking park wire and connect it to either the ground wire in the harness or screw it to bare metal, that will by-pass the safty feature and let you use all the functions while driving.

 

i just picked up a used boss double din. (cant remember the model number right now) and the screen is alittle bigger than the opening in the dash but the screen is huge and its full touch screen which is wat ive been looking for. i just wish it had navigation on it but for 100 i couldnt pass it up. ill post some picks up wen i get my dash back together

Im going switch to double din too, i already went through various head units,
first was a stock toyota tape player,went got a ,old pioneer,then a panasonic cq-c8100u, then i went with an aiwa, 180w,, then i finally could afford a 3.5 in dvd, went thorugh 2, still new, and now i got a touch screen,.that come out a single din, but now going to get a double din
