Put some gauges in my truck. I used PVC pipe for the gauge housings, some sheet metal and hot glue. 'Then laid on the Bondo. I pulled apart each gauge and painted each 'pointer needle' the same color 'flat red' and 'flat blacked' over all the Brand Name Logos (I hate that stuff) While the speedo was apart I re-set the mileage to show how many miles I Put On The Truck. I used small LED lights at the bottom of the speedo for the turn signals / high beam indicators. Still need a gas gauge. Plan on 2 16 gallon tanks, a manual valve, 1 gas gauge, with a switch to check each tank. Always 'somethin', uh?
Damn I was seriously just talking to a friend about doing that exact thing this weekend... looks like I'll have to do it, that came out nice.
Alright so it's been a year almost exactly since this guy posted this. I really want to know if all that body filler has cracked. This was a cool idea but i feel like that thick of body filler is bound to crack. I would have used some sort of fiberglass or epoxy something that's harder. I guess since it is interior though it might hold up. Seen alot of cracked filler cause people lay it so heavy.
No doubt. Even laying multiple thin layers and letting them cure before the next will have a lot of shrink back. A fiberglass reinforced filler like good ol' long and strong would help.
