I have a 2jz swap in my truck. I was curious to see some peoples hoods that have body trucks. My hood does not close now just curious to see what people done in these situations
I'm not sure this will be a fix for you but you could try to put some hood spacers up near the windshield to give it some extra space, unless the problem is not having enough room up front by the bumper. Like so:
It's up front. I didn't know if any one has had this problem or got any other solution to lower the motor some how.
My best guess would be to possibly shorten the mounts some how. I assume you've hit up google to see if anyone outside of here has found a solution? I know I've seen at least one guy, if not a couple, on here doing/have done a 1JZ swap and they may know some tricks. Can't remember their names off the top of my head right now though. I'll see if I'm able to find anything for ya man.
Im in the same boat as you but my diesel sticks up 5" in the front. Either cut a hole or make a bubble in the hood
Maybe make a cowl style hood or cut a hole and put a scoop over it(would be somewhat functional and still cover the engine).
You could maybe cut and extend the rise in the stock hood to make a "baby cowl". if you follow the same angles it could look fairly stock.
I think hes body dropped so it wont clear. Im thinking of doing something like this. Its a rough design similar to chevy HD hood. If I do it ill cut out the area I want to raise make my filler pieces then set what I cut out back on and hopefully it clears.
Or you could try one of these lovely cowl hoods from- showdowncustoms.com ( custom scoop heights are available ) Also check out this article. http://www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/body/0205mt_toyota_truck_cowl_induction_hood_install/
I like the look of the cowl hoods when in proportion, but Wow! Look at the bottom of the link: A 9" high cowl on one of our little trucks? I'm picturing a giant cheese wedge on the hood and the driver having to poke his head through the sunroof to see where he's going.
