I want to get some fender flares for my truck and at the same time cut some of my fenders out I was thinking older 240 z fenders would work has any one tried this befor
look carefully but I don't think they will fit good because our wheel arch are not perfectly round like a 240z..... you better put 4wd fender and take bushwacker fender flares or something like that
^Paseo is right. The 240 flares work best with round arches. I'm in the same boat ar you nash. I may bite the bullet this sumer and buy a set of flared fiberglass bedsides. Or buy a 79-81 toyota pickup (round arches) and swap my drivetrain into it.
Z era style flares look trashy on the majority of vehicles it is performed on, IMO. You'd have to mock it up and make it close to the factory lines to look right. It's not a good shape for our fender arches. Kinda like how retard-GM puts square fenders on their trucks. I'd say work up some fiberglass or something. cereal box cardboard and make yourself a mold. Then all of the fiberglassing I've seen will be done exclusively by Canadians.
Hummm I don't work with fiber glass maybe all order in some wacker flare and dry install them and see if section can be cut out to shrink them ?
My father owned an early Bronco, which of course came stock with the rear fenders that covered half the rear wheel. His Bronco had flares on it that were made by taking another set of front fenders, turning them around and grafting them onto the opposite rear fender. ( So the left rear fender was actually a right front fender, ect.) Could this be done with the 4x4 front fenders of our trucks? Just a thought. It looked good on the bronco and since it followed the shape of the front fender it looked almost factory done.
