So how do I make my bumper turn signals come on as running lights as well? Do I need to switch out the socket to the 1157 type?

Yes, then just tap the extra wire into the running lights wire.

You can also play with the ground wires. If you cut the blinker ground wire off and splice in the power wire from the marker in it's place they will both be markers but when the lights are on and you use the blinker the bumper light will turn off when the rear blinker bulb comes on.

Or if your really ambitious you can add another small light to your corner lights and with a relay you can have alternating signals. :silly:
