Ok so I wanna upgrade my headlights to the H4 bulbs and lamps. I'm trying to decide between the LCE H4 Headlight Conversion Kit or the IPF H4 Lamp and H4 Relay Upgrade Wiring Harness?? Has anyone swapped out for either of these setups? Do I really even need the relay wiring harness upgrade or can the original harness handle the power increase? I do really like the clarity of the LCE lens!! HMMMMM?!!??!
http://www.amazon.com/Clear-H6054-200mm-Headlights-Non-Sealed/dp/B007JOHHWY Id do the relay harness just to be sure.
I bought a cheapie ebay conversion kit for my 89 and am very happy with it, although I do plan to upgrade to the Hella one soon. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLA-003427291/ I didn't use any special wiring kit as I didn't know it existed but it seemed to work fine. That being said, I know that similar wiring kits are available for 70's ford trucks and all who have installed them rave about them, So its probably worth looking into.
IPF makes the second best non projector H4 housing on the market. Cibie' is the best unfortunately at over 3 times the cost. Best bang for the buck is IPF's with Wagner 80/100 watt bulbs and a relay setup.
Hella housings aren't bad at all, I have them in my 89 and I've had them in a previous toyota too. I loved my cibie housings but they basically got stolen years ago and me not having anything to put them in at the time I just wrote them off rather than trying to get them back. I don't have a link to cibie lights handy but I've seen them on ebay previously.
That's the answer I was looking for! Ok so I mosdef like the $$ for the IPF housings and you say they're the 2nd best on the market but what about for bulbs, are they're bulbs top notch as well?? Thanks White Trash!!
IPF bulbs are decent but not really worth the cost to me. I ran $150 PIAA 100/150 watt bulbs in my cibie housings and they were great at the time but eventually I switched to the 80/100 Wagner bulbs and never looked back since they were $15 a pair.
I run Hella glass lens which focus the light beam much better than most other lens & being glass don't discolor! I have used ZEON type bulbs & they were OK,but 5 years ago I changed to DDM Tuning HID 55W low/high beam 6,000k bulbs, these by far are the best light for your money! I've had no problems with them & they light up the road very very well!!
I do really like DDM Tunings HID lights! I picked up 3 projector lenses from an Audi at one of my local yards and retro fitted them in my ZX6-R and my MK4 Jetta with DDM Tuning HID kits and LOVED them!! I'm really not feelin like doin all that work again, soooo I think I'm just gonna keep her simple on this one!! And your right tho best money I've ever spent on lighting!! Thanks Truck Action!!
I run that exact setup currently. I can see great, unfortunately at the expense of blinding everyone I meet on the road. I have a$$hole lights but here before long either dapper will get my money for a sweet set of their projectors or I'll go led.
Ok so I've come to a conclusion on what I'm gonna do! IPF H4 Headlight H4 Relay Wiring Harness Upgrade PIAA H4 Xtreme White 4000K Bulbs I'm thinkin I'll be able to see pretty good drivin down the road now!! Thanks for all your opinioins and suggestions guys!!
With what I did there is no retrofitting just change out items! Shouldn't be a problem with the light aiming if you adjust correctly, & having a low /high beam bulb !
Nope, no projectors. They provide fantastic light but there is no cut off or sharp focus. They are basically a flood pattern with an hid in them. With an incandescent bulb they focus the light pretty well since the lenses isn't being over powered. With housings from dapper there is no retrofitting either since they are ready to go when you get them. They have hi/low too. They are more money but projectors are absolutely worth the money. I put projectors with ddm 35 watt 5k hids in my wife's xb and their light control and cutoff blows my 55 watt hid's out of the water.
