So I did a search on the forum and only found one thread and it was about an XRunner. Sooooo has anyone put a pro charger on the 22re? I just have ideas and questions rolling around in my head.:waytogo:

From what ive read and this might just all be bad experiences, but these motors dont make big power too easy. Even the 22RE turbo take mucho $$ to make decent power and it doesnt last very long. Thats why most just swap to more powerful engines

I've heard kinda the same. Plus you could pick up a rebuilt V-8 (302 Ford, LS-series chevy, ect.) motor to swap for around the cost of the supercharger. I've seen late 80's/ early 90's mustang's that are running, but in cosmetically poor shape go for around $3000 or less. Same with V-8 Explorers if you want an automatic. They would both make great donor cars. Take the advice with a grain of salt, however, as I'm a big-motor lovin' dinosaur. :D

    Other option is a 2RZ or 3RZ turbo'd

Well I'm not too big into those v - thingys. I'm gonna leave that up to my 67. Planning on building my 6=8 lol. Or going all out on a 572. As for the Yota guess I'll just stick with the low power motor. I'm just looking into ideas. I know I'll have to spend big bucks on the 22re to get power. :waytogo:

R series are tractor engines. They make nice bottom and midrange power with little top end. By the time you've dumped a pile of cash into one to make 200 hp you could have already dropped a 2rz with a 3rz intake and a turbo making 400 hp.

I disagree, I have a stage 1 LC Pro Street EFI (22re), with all they recommenced, & it has plenty of power & , 25,000 miles on the engine, ( 260,00 on the truck) now & runs great. I drive her a few times a week & to shows all summer long. Have made to long road trips to shows 1,980 miles & 1.300 miles no problems!
LC has a supper charger & a turbo for this engine also!!

Don't need another engine type or size, this little 4-bannger is way cool!!

I didn't say or insinuate its a bad engine. But the fact is for the cost of a base engine from lce anyone can build twice the hp for half the money.

I'm very happy with my 22r in the auto x truck and so far I'm not underpowered. Once the chassis is set up and I find that the engine is holding me back it'll come out in favor of a 2rz. No point in spending more money than I need to. :D

Personally I think the 22r I built is all that I need in my truck.. It has decent power in all rpms up to about 6-6500, I think a different cam and bigger carb would definitely improve that.

I think It's all about how your upgrades work together, not so much of I did this and this. Like bigger valves need bigger/better flowing ports.. And with bigger valves you should get a cam that will make use of the extra flow.. Just my .02
