I have a 22re in a 92 pickup. It came to me with a blown headgasket and had been sitting... WHen i got the head off there was a little rust in the cylinder wall and i sprayed wd40 and hit it with a scotch brite pad and got it all off. I pulled the head off and took it to the machine shop and had the head surfaced as it was warped. I brought everything back and installed the new headgasket and everything. And got no compression. I thought timing might be off so i pulled the lower cover back off and everything was right but i re did it all anyways and still no compression on any cylinder.
very warped block? did you straight edge the block? and when you mean no compression you mean 0 on all cylinders?? did you torq the head down right? did the machine shop check the valve seats to make sure they are not all rusted out like the walls were? try putting a little bit of oil down each spark plug hole and re-test. if you get some compression the rings are shot. ( when i mean some i mean about an 1/8 ounce or something tiny like that )
Ill try that and the valves werent rusted at all. Trucks been sitting about 6 months but had coolant and oil in the cylinders they werent rusted that bad... And yes no compression on any cylinder. And i torqed the head down to spec in three stages to 60lbs in the correct order.
nooks right..im an idiot. i bet your valves need adjustment cause of the head work... to set em cold adjust to 7 and 11 then after you get it hot and all that re-adjust to 8 and 12. The 7 and 11 is good enough to get ya running but you need to adjust em again hot to do it to spec.
So 7 on the intake cold and 11 on the exhaust. then 8 and 12 hot. and you just loosen the jam nut back the screw off then tighten down again?
