I have scene alot of numbers being thrown around but whats the max before you start munching valves into the pistons

Does this head have an issue of warping when heavily shaven ?
(will be useing mls gasket and arp studs)

ps yes a cam gear will be used and full stand alone ecu as well

so far the magic number after a quick google is .50 thou

Just enough to get the hair off of it. Any more and you risk giving it razor burn and little bumps on the head arent good to help the gaskets seal. :D
Seriously, I've read 50 like you said, but have no experience to back that up. Hope someone with real knowledge chimes in soon.

the answer is 100 thou according to Lc engineering if you have stock block height

and you will be at roughly 10.4

You will have to check the valve re-leafs thou pending on the cam you run

Good info. That's 10.4:1? With stock style pistons?

Been thinking of going crazy and trying to port my extra head to see how much extra they can flow. LC's stage 5 head flows almost double what the stock head does. I don't know if the rest of the system can keep up, but I'm thinking of trying it.

My 22RE head was milled so much I couldn't set the right timing :duh:... And that thing won't stop pinging unless I ran 92 and up octane with some really retarded timing :brickknock:.. Ended up getting a new head and a torker cam from Engbldr when the head gasket blew up. Works great so far (since March 2013 and counting :))..

Porting the head is easy but putting in there massive stage 5 valves you will have to re shape the combustion chamber's and lower your comp ratio since the valve's are the same size OD as your stock valve seats it's a +4 valve size upgrade

it's really to bad they did not make +2 valve since there is alot of meat still left for a +2 valve to work on a stock toyota seats

all have some stuff up soon of the porting and blending that I will be doing

That's what happens when you don't run a gear

Yeah could have tried that but I didn't know what has been done to the head as I bought it like that. I found out when I took off the head.
