I got a 21 R-U that is currently installed in a manual transmission which i want to eventually swap to a 22R that is coming out of a automatic. so my question is is it possible to swap the clutch components from the 21 R-U to the 22R

Yup! same, same... Flywheel & bolts (please use locktight), clutch, pilot bearing is all you need from the 21R...

you'll also want to keep the distributor and coil from the 21r for the 22r.

then there will be no issue wiring up the new motor.

might also think about tranferring the temp/oil/ect sensors over too for that stock wiring look, so all the plugs match up.

    starter/alt is the same too

    exhaust too.

    and the oil.
