im not sure if a 20/22r will bolt right in but it should be pretty close. they are relatively simple to wire up with a carb and should have very similar size dimensions. as well as more available parts and better power. it may raise the nose a bit though since they dont weigh as much.

So your asking if there is a motor that just drops in or other motor mounts that fit?even a 22r is a tight fit in the bay.The placement of the motor mounts is odd and the 4spd top loader is short.I have many different mounts if I can help.

5M/7M is the inline 6 from supras from 82-92. id say a nice 20 or 22r would be plenty. those trucks are tiny.

a detroit 353 might fit. it would bring the front down though. its a heavy 3 cylinder. i dream of one day doing a diesel AWD conversion to my 73

The stock motor wasn't light either.Still triing to get a scale to wiegh it.
Found some pics of my 22r fit, the differance is its on a 93 frame. The motor and stock radiator left no room even after moving it [the motor]back to the fire wall. Not moved in the photo.

im totally distracted by that oil cap. i want one. lol. and that does look tight. but pusher electric fans should work. maybe run the later style radiators that are thinner.
