    Hey guys,

Found out my hilux has a G code rear end (I Guess they all do?) and an open diff. I'd like to put in a LSD, as well as shorter gears.

What cars have an LSD that would drop right in?

Easy solution is to switch to a V6 diff out of a 4x4 that'll give you at least 4.10's and put an mkII supra limited slip in it.

currently have a 4.11. As crazy as this may sound, looking for a shorter final, as the 18rg redlines at 7000 rpms, and feels too tall.

I wish my Hilux had an 18RG! I guess it's getting a beams in the near-ish future.

If you want lower than that the only factory gears are found in 4 runners from 89-95. V6 automatic had 4.56's and V6 auto with factory alloy wheels and spare tire carrier had 4.88's.

    I'm currently running 4.56's in my 89 with a W58 and 265/50/12's and it's a great combo. :D

If you use a factory V6 3rd you won't need conversion bearings to use a supra LSD.

so get a G code rear end from a v6 engined car, and the supra diff just plugs & play

or use my 4 cyl G Code rear end and use conversion bearings.

    Is that right?

ALL 4runner and 4x4 pickups have 8" or what is known as G code in 2 the wheel drive world.

But yes, g code 2 wheel drive or 4 cylinder 4 wheel drive will need the bearings. V6 will accept the diff directly.

Damn yea you're absolutely correct it's mkIII. I was too caught up watching KOH yesterday to realize my error. At least it was caught before parts were sourced.

You can figure it out by checking the code of the diff:

    Toyota Vehicle Identification Number

of course the vin plate is completely faded on the car lol, well i got the 4runner center section and i found a mk2 at the yard with a lsd in it so i need to pull the diff, i will pull apart the 3rd member tomorrow at work, i was lucky enough to find a 4 runner that had recently had a new ring and pinion installed within a few thousand miles, i figure the truck had a catastrophic engine failure, it was a v6 after all.
