    Came from yota tech. I think I will like it here more.

    I posted this in the introductions thread but I will do it here as well.

    :: The Story ::
    My grandpa gave me this truck before he passed away. I've had it for about 5 - 6 years. He passed away 3 years ago. He did the full uhaul mod so I will not remove it. I love it anyway and don't want to take it off! :D

    Truck has been parked for 4 years and I have got the time to start building it up again.

    :: Current Progress ::

    This weekend I did; Complete tuneup, changed batt wires, changed fuel filter, changed starter, changed fuel pump, flushed fuel tank (and knocked out all the rust with a chain)

    :: Still to-do ::
    To get it running I need to; find a fuel pump assembly, fix a break issue
    To do after that; Thinking of lowering it, having fender flares made for the rear to tuck the dually wheels, paint, interior, motor mods.

    I airbrush so I'm still mauling over ideas on what to paint on it once I get the body how I want it.

    This is where it has been sitting for the last 3-4 years.

    I finally moved it and started working on it.

    Wow thats the best gift a grandpa come give his grandson. May your grandpa RIP and of course youll keep his legacy alive with this great truck. I agree too after seeing a rare 81 double cab dually at the yard just find yourself a dually bed and dump it. You can beat those chevy duallies any day! Good luck on your build and keep the pics coming!:waytogo:

    I did a little more work this weekend. I tore apart the stock fuel pump assembly, drilled out the old lines that were all rusted out and clogged and ran new ones as well as hooked up the new pump and replaced any fuel lines that looked like they would need it in the near future. Got the truck to fire up and purr under his own power. Now it's just brake work and new tires to get it on the road again. After that it comes down to the fun stuff of changing how he looks. I'll put up some pics when I am not being too lazy to go out to my car to get the camera.

    Pictures from the day. It was soo good to hear him running under his own power today. He ran there for about 15 minutes on his own after not running at all for 3-4 years. Just smoked a little at first but stopped after just a couple minutes.

    This is what we had to do to the fuel pump assembly. The newlines fit in good but we used some steel jb weld type stuff just to make sure it had a good seal around it.

    The cleaned up fuel pump assembly. This thing was -nasty- when it came out.

    Got new tires put all around on all six wheels. Installed the short throw shift kit. Cleaned and washed it. Then drove it to springfield and back (Roughly 60-70 miles round trip)

    The right side looks like it's got a black eye from the piece around the headlight missing.

    Great project...you ever thought about going with the 4x4 fenders in the front to give it a wider look?
