    howdy kids, been awhile :)

long story short, didnt have a mini, stalled stout build, blah blah blah.

ive been on the hunt for a 84+ base model for a while to replace the aging stout drivetrain and frame. my original plan was to find any old truck for the newer frame and swap the stout body on, aquire a 1uz and slap it in... but then my supercharged wagon blew up, and my wheelers clutch went out which left me with 5 projects that all needed garage time and no daily weekend driver cept the E250 work van.

at this point somebody is gonna say "why not just fix something and drive it?". well most everything is approaching full retard status so a quick/cheap fix just wasnt happening, and i had a set of cobra 17's just begging me to be on something and i really wanted a mini driver.

enter a 87 carb'd standard cab. found it on CL for $1500, talked em down to $1k. was previously owned by a meth head and unfortunatly he "fixed" a few things and installed a stereo...

before he got it, it was a decently built lil lowered stock truck. 3in blocks and cranked torsions, magnaflow with a side pipe exhaust and a fresh crate motor, when i got it had 225k miles.

got a $1k lil methy truck that chirps 2nd out of the box with a really solid motor.

    things to fix:
    oil leak
wrong lug nut wheel wobble (ford wheels/yota lugs)
exhaust is more ghetto then what i would do, but hey a free bungie and tow strap is cool
    crazy fire hazard wiring

    and now some pics

    7.5in diff with 3:73 gears and a w55
    [IMG]

lowered with 3in blocks and torsions, shocks are toast all the way around

    note the tow strap...

    wtf
    [IMG]

    wth
    [IMG]

    lolz
    [IMG]

look, its a skylight for the lolz
    [IMG]

    the red scares me
    [IMG]

    yep, now wheres it go...

    oh there it is
    [IMG]

    sneaky
    [IMG]

great tuck job and ooh hey free stereo
    [IMG]

    noticed these along the way
    [IMG]

3in blocks, some wierd wrap $hit on the springs and the bent ends of the u joints need to be cut off.

came with 2 stickers, a steering wheel cover and a cross hanging from the mirror...3 of 4 in the bed so far :demon2:

The PO had some ranger wheels on there with yota lugs (too small) which turned every hole on the ford wheels to egg shaped holes. And had the neato side effect of killing at least one wheel bearing if not all of them, still have lots of wheel wobble with proper wheels and lugs.

    More pics

Looks more hawt with the cobra wheels
    [IMG]

    Oooh red painted calipers
    [IMG]

    New pads but hosed rotors
    [IMG]

    plan from here out is:

    4rnr valance
clean the F out of the interior...odd nasty meth smell
fix exhaust and whatever else pops up for DD status, install a super charger and rock it for the summer then winter stout body swap.

WOW, i'm speechless {almost} ... Is that duct tape on the springs ??? Leave it to a methhead to f**k something up like that ... I'm glad you rescued it when you did ... Hopefully you don't find anymore hidden problems to add to what you already have to fix ... Good luck, bud ... Keep us posted ...

Decent find, glad you talked him down from his price. I would completely tear out interior, vaccum, scrub, schampoo everything. Last thing you want is an OSP officer with a dog pulling your ass over if it smells like meth.

Id keep the stereo wire coming over the fender, thats a certified Tacoma Crack House install right there.

teaser pic...this is gonna be soooo awesome :D
    [IMG]

    gratuitous night shot
    [IMG]

note: i took the bungee cord off and... well ya
    [IMG]

hacked all that garbage off you can see the roasted bungee, apparently a tow strap will bond with the muffler if given enough time
    [IMG]

ooh hey ive always wanted one, and it makes a glass pack sound ****ty
    [IMG]

    welded some new tube in
    [IMG]

as far as i got that day, now its piped 2in back to the axle and 1 /34 to the spring hanger with a down turn, was out of 2in and needed quiet.

actually hung with hangers now :D
    [IMG]

got rid of the heavy as **** inch thick rubber pad air dam crack head thingy and installed the 4rnr valance.

needs a bit of adjusting but looks way F'n better

2in drop spindles in the mail

also got the interior all cleaned up and one oil leak fixed, think all the seals on the motor are hosed, the valve cover gasket was rock hard. gonna rip out the motor and regasket it before i slap the SC on.

Not a bad looking truck. If you are still doing the body and 1uz swap we may be able to strike a deal. I have an 87 short box with a rough body and solid frame as well as a 1uz with trans and everything needed to make it run. If you're game I'm sure a deal could be struck. :D

Groovy, we're getting ready to move so the engine and related parts are going into storage so it'll be here if you decide to do that project. I've got lots of yota parts for your wheeler too. I just parted/scrapped my 80 awhile back but I have the leftovers...

    bit of a update

got my spindles and alignment done
    [IMG]

went up to 4in angled blocks, but its not enough so im going to make some 5in or so ones
    [IMG]

added some air shocks all the way around while i was under there. lifts the truck with only 10psi in the back and bottoms out before the axle hits the frame so ill be making dropped shock mounts so i can air up to 30lbs without lifting the truck and get better travel.

figured id use a hole already there for the shrader fitting:D
    [IMG]

now with the front so low i rubbed alot, so i beat in the inner fenders. helped...sorta

turns out the PO decided that replacing the core support and pass inner fender was not a "weld on" job and that 2 self tapping sheet metal screws were sufficient, the body mounts wernt really all that important...:looney:

so on good bumps the whole front clip would bounce and flex catching the tires... fun.

how it was after unbolting the structural members(fenders)

now its all welded on and bolted like its supposed to, not exactly perfect but it only has to last a couple more months and not chew my tires so it will do.

    and some gratuitous stance shots:cool:
