I will just introduce myself here. I live in South Carolina and have always been it to mini trucks and every one I get is sitting low. Mainly been S-10 fan. But with life changing all the time I have gotten into really tight spots and had to sell them. Well about 3 months ago or so my granddad passed away and the only thing his kids did not fight over was the truck he had. I asked for it and they said it was not worth driving so bam now its all mine. Just about all my memories of my granddad was in this truck or working on it. Its close to my heart and will not go no where or be sold. My kids are now making memories in the old truck now.....

Well its a 1987 Toyota pickup long wheel base with a 22R 2nd motor with 219,XXX miles on the dash. Motor was replace in 94. No rust but on tailgate. and has a nice body.

Things I have done so far:
    Plugs
    Wires
    Rotor cap
    Rotor button
    Brake master
    Blown out brake lines
    New brakes
    Fixed vac leaks
    Turned down torsion bars
    Took middle leaf out

    Things I need to do:
    Valve cover gasket
    Rear transmission gasket
    drive shaft bearing
    choke
    steering center link
4" lower blocks and 2" spindle

I know I want to lower but I don't know what else I want to do. If you have input feel free!!!

sorry I took pictures in the rain real fast

Great starting point for the truck. I say just clean it all around and cruise it. Then pick small tasks to complete and before long you will have a great solid truck that you can pass down

new valve gasket is on and I adjusted the valves when I was in there. nothing looked bad and timing chain looked good and had metal runners to which is a plus. I was going to take some pictures but it was looking like rain was moving in so I did not have time. If I get time tonight I will be doing the BJ flip.

Like Da Roach said small tasks , well I'd say clean up engine bay get a nice air filter maybe a cone, cover up the dash with vynil, widen those steel rims maybe 9j or get nice set of bbs rs deep dish rims or tsw monaco 17inch, dip the tail lights . Work on gettin the right tweaks on it without going overboard you'll be just fine. Other thing get nice sound system : maybe pair of 8inch subs eaither DD's Redline 508 or sundown SA-8 V,2, amp strong 4channel , nice split system and head unit you'll be set.

I was thinking of holding off on paint till I get get my shop next year. What do y'all think about sticker bombing the hood and the white on the bed? And maybe the padded part of the dash?

Congradulations on getting the truck. I have an 86 that I bought new, it has 342,000 miles on it, I sadly wrecked it a few years back but am excited about getting it going again. These older toyota trucks are definately worth the time and money.

You definitely need to fix it. My first truck was a 78 hilux that my grandpa bought new. I got it when my uncle got tired of it. It turned me in to a toyota addict. I ended up getting rid of the truck and ive regretted it ever since.
