Ok, being that my truck has been owned by my grandpa, dad and now me, figures it deserves some attention.

I never did much body work before but new stuffs always a fun challenge. The primers getting old and thinking of a sweet paintjob to go along with some wheels Im gunna get.

Heres what Im starting with...pre paint
    [IMG]

I saw the idiot deer who ran into the side of the truck....damaged door and B pillar, uh oh.

    Another.

I thought Id start out in the interior. So I removed the pass. seat and carpet. Then scraped out the brittle and nasty dum dum insulation

    Found a surprise.

A few days later I thought Id tackle it.... Rusted floor

The floor panel was a PITA to weld in. I was using a Hobart gas mig, then switched to my lincoln home depot 110v gasless mig. Much better.( I fully welded it in, so yea)

It is a piece of my bent up door skin.

I scraped up the tar residue and cleaned it with solvent. Something POR-15 would stick to. Thats another laborious task.

I first tested the POR on an inner fender. I like this stuff

    Hung a new(ish) door.

I pulled off the fenders again and everything to paint the cab metal. Wire wheeled, solvent, POR-15 then Permatex undercoating.

The Left kick panel got some Peel and seal, then the cracks sealed up with HVAC silver tape. Then I did the right. Then both sides got coated with undercoating.

Heres the pass cab floor after POR, then 2 layers of Peel and seal, with seams taped up.

Thanks to Tony, A.K.A. BYE, he let me in on Levin Auto parts in Houston.

I got this, plus a front bumper with ends, a LF fender, bumper brackets, both fender lights and something else im forgetting.

    Not bad for 150 bucks!

:looney: I dont know whats wrong with me, but big brakes in big wheels are delish...

My Lexxus LS400 hardware definatly has the stopping power. But Im afraid it just isnt flashy enough...

Soo. Being that im a partial mustang guy too.... Heres my 94+ mustang cobra rotors off of ebay. 130 shipped.

They are big, thats a full scale castrol bottle there. 13 inch.

I got a spare set off hubs to mount them onto from a sorry 92 at the Junkyard. 30 bucks

So after I get some chassistech drop spindles and $300 calipers, I win

I know how im going to mount 8.8 discs to my 8inch yota dually axle. Maybe tomorrow ill start messing with it. They are 11.65 X .66 IIRC.

I got a good strait bumper off of the green door truck too. Ill strip paint and mount that soon too.

    Stay posted. :waytogo:

    Happy Easter.

So got some more work done.

I took out the pass. seatbelt, cleaned that section of floor and welded up all the extra bolt holes. Then ground em flush...

Then some more POR to seal it up

My rear bumper is/was twisted all to hell from another accident I had years ago. I got a super strait one at the pull it yard for like 35 bucks... My Stangs in the background...............................the blue one

Wired down the rusty brackets I had as best I could.

So some hammered finish rustoleum and por on the underside of the bumper went from this....

    To...

New parts gettin in tomorrow. O Yea!

NotAvailable & Hood- Its thin enough to be sprayed, (or able to be thinned to be sprayed). Says it right on the can. I brushed in on. goes on real nice.

SD- I like the look of the trucks without bumpers, make no mistake. But it looks awefully goofy without one when the truck is still almost two feet (exaggerated) off the ground. In other words im not low enough, yet...

I want to paint it two toned, pretty much the colors of a silver metallic F250. Platinum Edition. The upper anthricite/gunmetal matches my wheel color. ( Ignore the fact thats its a diesel truck, I just like the paint job.)

With these wheels, tires and brakes.....(except dished 10.5 staggered on the back.)

O and thanks for your complements!

Ok, squeezed out a little more work today. My new parts didnt come in yet so I messed with the rear axle im building.

Originally I was going to get a 5 lug dually axle. 1 ton g-code. After about 2 years of searching I gave up. Then someone gave me a 8.8 out of a stang with spring perches on it.

Then last christmas when I travelled to Colorado, I just had to stop at my old junkyards. Score! just what I wanted out of a 77 toyota pickup chinook campermobile thing. 4.10 open diff 56 inches wide.

Here I got an axle out and drum off. Duo servo big shoe suckers.

I took off the brake hardware and cut off the most of the backing plate. Shown here...

After you cut off the plate, take it off and hammer out the studs that bolt it to the bearing housing thing.(bolt is laying on axle below). Knock the remnats off the backing plate. Then cut it where im pointing too and get it off compleatly.

A nice place to put a caliper bracket. Just some 1/4 plate laying around.

I didnt get pics of how I centered the rotor to the axle. Simply I centered it to the hub/wheel studs. Then drilled thru the rotor and flange and tapped some bolts into it. (2 at the moment, but ill put all 5 in)

    So some more pics yall.

Not bad for 2 hrs work...

So yesterday was kinda a waste.

Went to the parts store to buy my rear calipers and brackets. 40 for the caliper and they didnt have the brackets. I get em & walk out the door and get back to work and he calls and says he cant sell em to me. 50 dollar core...each. Bah!

I guess some JY v6-v8 94+ calipers got my name on em. (The caliper is no different than a cobra, but the bracket has a slightly wider slot) Nothing a grinder cant fix. The pads are thinner on a cobra set.

Got myself some of those round bumper plate lights. $8 bucks/pair
New ChassisTech 2 inch drop spindles for a 84-95. $204/pr. free shipping.

Im stoked on the drop spindles though. Stay Posted :waytogo:

    Update.

LF fender got to take my first bondo job. Not as hard as I thought it would be. With most of the paint stripped (note 4wd badge holes got welded up)

I cooked up my first batch of bondo WAYY too hot. Went solid in less than a minute. Red. second batch

Sanded down again with markes for more.

I adjusted my valves too wednesday. I had a spare valve cover I had for a long time. Just put it on for the photo op. U guys might like the color scheme.
