well i figure its about time i start my build thread, even though i havent done any work on my truck since march. but now that ive finally got a job i plan on putting alot of time and money into it. its an 82 truck with a 2L diesel that i picked up in Pennsylvania while attending wyotech the plans for now are to get the title in my name and start driving it again! as u will notice in the pics its already had its fair share of modification from a previous owner that i plan on undoing, and alot of rust! so here it is

Nice truck cant wait for a makeover. Take that bed off slap a normal bed on but keep the stacks. So whats the plans for it? You going to lower it or lift it?

my friends like to joke that it looks ready for a zombie apocalypse lol, first plan is a bed and bumper and that will help it so much, its almost impossible to find a bed around where i live so it looks like im going to have to travel to get one. and then it gets lowered...alot lol, id like to add a wooden floor in the bed, once i find one, and nice straight cut stacks, ive also been planning to put on some fender mirrors for a long time and some nice oldschool jdm wheels preferably ssr's

HRMmm......How long does it take to swap beds on a couple of trucks? Think it could be done in a day (two days tops)?

I'm heading to Florida in a couple of months...Kentucky is smack dab in the middle of my path, and I HAVE been pondering a flat bed.....

    HRMMmmmm......

u have my attention... lol my bed shouldnt be to hard to remove seeing as the previous owner took it off recently so the bolts should come off easily. the bed definitely needs new wood though its pretty rotted but other other then that its in great shape let me know what u decide in the future. tommorow im taking the truck to get the title transfered and registered, hopefully there wont be any major hiccups with that, i'll post progress pics when i find all of the pictures

so i went to get the title and registration worked out today but i was only able to get a temp tag, i gotta get the title notarized in ohio so hopefully i can get ahold of the previous owner to work everything out. but seeing as i got the temp tag i'll at least be able to drive it around for a month

so this is what i discovered after buying the truck
    [IMG]

and this was the attempted patch panel that was made out of extremely thin aluminum pop riveted into place and covered in foam

    heres another view
    [IMG]

    the front driver side
    [IMG]
and the passenger side looked identical but i dont have a pic, all of the body mounts where rusted out and the only thing holding the cab on was the front fenders

Yea you could cause your going to have to cut that whole floor out and put a new one in. So if your plannin to bag it then do or do it anyway.

i already have it fixed im just waiting for my friend to find his camera to get the pics, i definitely should have done a body drop and i might go back and do one. i only had a week to fix it before i had to drive it close to 500 miles home from school so it was kinda a rush job. if u think the floor was bad wait till u guys see the frame!

so heres how it looks now

i had to rebuild the inner rockers and body mounts on all 4 corners

i needed new body mounts and i didnt have much time so i made new ones out of hockey pucks for a total cost of like 8 dollars

    heres what i started with

    which ended up like this

did the same with the passenger side

    and the rest
