well i figured id start one of these finally. this is just a quick bit of info.

    78 longbed - RN28
paint is all original inside and out, except the doors and fenders had been repainted for some reason. they seem solid though, it probably got keyed or something.
20R with 107k miles. i got it at 81k. im the 3rd owner. original had it til about 2-1/2 ago. 5 speed, but its not an SR5. ive already learned that much.
ive replaced damn near everything; wheel bearings, brakes, brake master/booster, clutch, clutch slave, full exhaust, ported non-egr intake, new head this weekend, weber, no emissions stuff left, swapped a few interior parts, ect.

heres a few pictures. i have a project thats pretty old school style but im sure theres a few people on here like shoNuff and cinNAMmon who will love it. modifying a rodeo lower valance onto the front.

Nice looking truck! That Ramcharger is cool too, never seen that before

What are the chrome wheels, they look kinda cool. Mazda?

Thanks. The rc has a 70s hood and bumper and early 80s grille. Few shaved items. It's going alot lower in a couple weeks. They weren't common in 2wd.

The chrome yota wheels are ford probe gt's. I took them off when I blew a tire. Have the steelies back on.

Well I was going 80ish. And it was the driver front tire. Luckily there was a little space between the control and the ground. A little. LOL. And I didn't have a spare with me. It was an interesting night.

And ill have a interior pics up. Other than chrome inner handles, a new shifter arm/knob, grant-ish wheel and a tire chains box for a console it's stock inside. LOL. I was building a console but my big ass camera bag fits between the seats perfect so I dunno if I will.

    Man that's a sweet looking 78!

Those interior shots make me jealous! I really need to get mine cleaned up! Hopefully, while I am on paternity leave next week, I'll get to work on my truck.

Love what you're doing with it! :applause:

My junkyard lessons have taught me they are similar year celica or corolla seats. I forgot which ones. Stock buckets don't have tilt backs. Mine was a bench. PO out these in. And the shifter is stock from 78 w50 5 speed trucks. I put a new shorter chrome arm. New shots up soon. Those are old.

well since those pictures i had a small fender bender that broke a little chunk off the grille and ruined one of my H4 housings. i have a new one, found a new fender the same color (just looked for months, haha), and my lower valance has never been all that good. so thats where the rodeo valance comes into play. plus i have some miata round fogs to put in.

and ill try to get a few new interior shots today. i decided im gonna change up the gauges a bit.

i appreciate the offer. im only gonna put a new grille one if i find one this color. lol. center console i think im content with my tire chains box and camera bag. might do a shortie half console though like bench seat trucks would have. ill see how much space i have to work with when i do my gauge mods.

plans for that are to put my 75 celica 120MPH speedo in place of my stock one, put the 8k tach where my idiot lights are, delete my climate controls by setting the cables where i like them inside the dash and using a ball valve in each heater hose. i really only need the heater in the winter. ill set the vents to on and to defrost. then move my stereo to the right of my wiper and heater blower switches. that gives me the top area for the extra 3 gauges the celica has. and i wanna put the map light on a switch so its not always on. heres a rough photoshop. more of a sketch in paint.

    how it is now

the stereo switch is a little odd probably. its a wiper switch wired to the keyed power of the head unit. i dont like tapping into keyed power for my stereos, because they always turn on with the ignition which i dont always want. and you have to have a key to hear music, which i also dont always want. like if im using the toyota for workin music while i tinker with the other truck. i run a 10g wire through a fuse to the main power feed, and T it off for the switched power, then through a switch, then into the keyed power wire on the head unit. simple but effective.

I usually run a relay on my vehicles so I can have a switch or a key. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal but it is so much more convenient than having to have a key or on newer vehicles if you leave the door open it will ding and ding and ding. I love that mod.
