Hey all, this is my 78 Hilux that I helped to rescue from the crusher.

This is the truck in it's glory days

This truck had a complete overhaul. Rebuild 22R, no not 20R, 22R. Rebuilt 5 speed trans, lowered suspension- cranked torsions and blocks, custom exhaust, lot of new parts, roll cage, frenched license plate, flipped side markers, shaved door handles, lots of chromed parts, new rims and tires, and drive shaft cage. :headbang:

Then the truck sat for a long time neglected. A California owner bought it after the work was done to it but he got tired of failing smog and didn't want to throw anymore money at it so it sat for several years on new tires which cracked from sitting on flat tires... :looney:

That California owner was finally tired of looking at it sitting so he was going to crush it for money. Why? I don't know. :duh:

The owner I bought it from is obviously from Nevada and in our county there is now smog. He heard the story about it and asked why would he do that. This Nevada owner wasn't a Toyota enthusiast but he knew that these trucks were sought after trucks. So he gave him $450 and trailered it home from California

This owner didn't really want it so he got it running and posted it on Facebook for $900.

I bought the truck for $600. The Nevada owner installed an external fuel pump because the in tank pump wasn't working. The pump in the tank is new but he said something happened to the wiring. He also put some rims and tires he got for cheap. It is drivable nearly drivable but I need to cut off the driveshaft cage and get new tires for the matching rims. Here is the individual photos.

I have some good plans for this but not until I am done with my current project. This will just be my daily for now...

Looks like it just needs a buff job, awesome grab. The way it looks right now, it can go for a couple thousand grand here in Guam. I like the frenched lisc. plate.

It is nice. Once the tires are swapped out and I do a little bit to get things running right, she will be on the road. My plan is to put a 1UZ in my '93 and the 22RE from my 93 in this one with complete harness and ECU. It's got a Mickey Mouse wiring job on it. Wires every where!

Can ya get some pics of how the tips connect to the exhaust system? I've been thinking about moving my exhaust to there, but a split tip going around both sides of the plate. Anyways, rad find. Should be fun.

Yeah, no problem. I will get some on the weekend. It's not the best job but still looks awesome. It is definitely an old school mini look. It was done with a straight pipe that was capped off and four tips were welded to the side of the pipe with peanut butter. LOL

Haha peanut butter welds. I get the way it was made tho. I'm thinking about a dual tip and leaving my plate but same concept otherwise. I figured I could Y it off before the tip.

Haven't done anything to this yet. My '93 is getting the treatment first but once I can move the '93 around I will pull this one in to the garage for a tune up to get it going again. In the mean time here are so more clearer pictures...

Not sure but I have seen them on old vans. They went on the truck when I bought it though. Salvage yard would be your best bet maybe.
