Long story short. I have a 2JZ in a 1972 Hi Lux. (there is a build thread here called "early 1972 with a 2J or something like that.) The 2J made too much power for the frame we modified and it was not fun to drive. So we took out the 2J and found a engine more old school and more cool.

I started to do some bodywork to the 2J truck and found the front of the truck was completely formed with bondo and was just too much work to fix. So thanks to "Toyota minis for sale" I bought a 1969 Hi Lux from Idaho for a donor body. Here are some photos of the truck before stripping her down naked.

Once I got her back to CA we started stripping her down and blasted the paint. Damn what we found is this truck was abused and covered pretty good. The person who did this paint job was really good. We found that the truck originally started life Red and was stripped all the way down exterior and interior for the Blue paint job. The bondo work was really, really good. That's why I blasted it because I thought there would be no bondo on the truck. Little did I know this truck was a lot of bumps and bruises. The plan is to try to restore the truck cab and bed with least amount of bondo. Cut out all of the rust and put the cab and bed onto the modified frame that had the 2J motor in it. The motor I was luck enough to get is called a Toyota 152E. It's based off a 18R motor so the fitment should be much easier then the 2J was. This truck will be a nice, fun street truck. Here are some photos of the blasted cab and bed.

Hopefully these Facebook links work. This a build page for the truck. ridiqulux
